Grant Peters is a dedicated father, business owner, engineer, and volunteer. Grant has been involved in the community ever since he and his family decided to put down roots in Orangeville 8 years ago. Not long after, he encouraged his mother to move here as well, knowing it is a great community for seniors.

Grant was recently nominated for a Friends of the Credit Conservation Award for Outstanding Volunteer. This nomination came as a result of significant community involvement, including OSAT (see below) and CVC initiatives.

Grant stays active through local recreational activities (baseball, curling, flag football, frisbee – not all at once!), and you can also catch Grant hiking, skiing, or riding his bicycle around town – look for the bright yellow helmet. Grant has also been known to play a board game or two…

Municipal Volunteering:

Member of OSAT (Orangeville Sustainability Action Team):

  • Head of Policy Subcommittee – worked with Town staff to secure a $46,000 grant for Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP)
  • Head of Waste Subcommittee – worked with local restaurants and event organizers to reduce and/or divert waste from landfill
  • Member of Active Transportation Subcommittee – implemented three bike routes (Rotary Way, South Broadway Passage, and Westside Way) and worked with Town staff to secure a $180,000 grant for planning and implementing long-term cycling improvements
  • Creator of the Power Meter Lending Program at the Orangeville Public Library
  • Co-founder of the Annual Public Bike Ride in Orangeville
  • Regularly attends local tree planting events
  • Volunteers at the OSAT market booth
